It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt admiration that we announce the passing of Ellis Roshawn Williams, who departed this life on June 26, 2026, at the age of 50. Born on April 2, 1976, in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, Ellis was the cherished son of the late Robert Clay and Essie Mae Williams. He was predeceased by his beloved parents and his dear Aunt Ella Mae Battle. Ellis leaves behind a legacy rich in love, dedication, and service. He is survived by his treasured son, Dai’ren, who was the light of his life. Ellis also leaves behind three devoted sisters, Cheri Clifton, Jackie Williams, and Michelle Davis, who shares her life with her husband James. His brother, Charles Williams, and sister-in-law Eugenia, will forever hold his memory close. His extended family includes ten beloved nieces—Keisha, Barbara, Brittany, Tonisha, Jovanique, Juanita (and her husband Dominic), Nakedra (and her husband Derrick), Latrice, Davette, and Charlesetta—and three nephews, Micheal, Brenton, and Tony. Ellis was also blessed with the love of his aunts, Willie Etta Roy and Mable Mckenise, his Uncle Paul, and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. A proud son of San Antonio, Ellis graduated from Sam Houston High School, where he first discovered his passion for music and leadership. He furthered his education at Texas Southern University in Houston Texas, where he became a distinguished alumnus. His collegiate years were marked by his participation in the “Ocean of Souls” marching band and his dedication to Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, he was also a member of Phi Mu Alpha SinfoniaMusic Fraternity and a dedicated Brother of Prince Hall Affiliated Masonry Lodge. His dedication stewardship to his students at Kashmere High School in the Houston Independent School District of which laid the foundation for his lifelong commitment to music and mentorship. Ellis’s career was a testament to his dedication and love for music education. As the Head Band Director at Kashmere High School, he led the Thunder Soul marching band with unwavering passion and a commitment to excellence. His leadership was characterized by a nurturing spirit that inspired pride and profound transformation in the lives of countless students. Ellis’s legacy as an educator will be felt for generations to come, as his students carry forward the lessons of discipline, passion, and love instilled in them by their beloved director. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ellis was known for his generous heart and his readiness to help anyone in need. He found joy in spending quality time with his son Dai’ren ,his family in San Antonio and the students he mentored. His life was a testament to the power of giving and the impact of genuine care. A service to celebrate the remarkable life of Ellis Roshawn Williams will be held on July 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, located at 508 N. Center St. San Antonio, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a man who touched so many.
