Edward R. Barry
December 16, 1938 ~ March 22, 2010
Edward Ray (Bubba) Barry, passed away peacefully, with his children at his side, on March 22, 2010, at Downtown Baptist Hospital. He was born on December 16, 1938 in Wilson County. He grew up in San Antonio where he attended Harlandale High School. He served a short time in the army. He was a thirty-five year employee of Mission Ice Company. As a trainer, he was a passionate horseman and loved calf roping and reigning. He trained champion cutting horses and racing horses. He enjoyed dancing, traveling with Chubby Checkers demonstrating the "twist" and western swing dancing. Prior to his love of horses, he enjoyed motorcycle racing where he became a Texas State Champion. He was preceded, in death by his parents, Granvel A. Asbury and Adeline M. Goldman, and his sister Paulette Branham. He is survived by his five children, Edward Ray Barry, Jr., Deborah Behnke and husband Bill, Destiny Barry, Colt Barry and Shiloh Barry, two grandchildren Ella and Berkley, brother-in-law, Bob Branham, Guardian Angel Kenneth Neal and many dear and loved friends. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27th at 11:30 a.m. at River of Life Christian Fellowship, 12335 LaVernia Road, Adkins, Texas 78101. A reception and lunch will follow at Texas Pride Barbeque, located across the street.
