Gloria Jean Alice Jean (Howell) Lombardi, 80, of Boerne, Texas, passed away peacefully at VITAS Hospice in San Antonio on January 21, 2018. Jean was born to Henry Albert and Beatrice Alice (Butler) Howell in London, England, on September 18, 1937. She came to the United States in 1957 where she lived until her death. Jean attended Community College of Rhode Island, graduating in 1990 with her Associate in Science in Business degree. In 1991, Jean moved to Alaska to live with her son, David, and his family. She worked in various jobs, but she was most proud of her work doing mastectomy bra fittings for her ladies after breast cancer surgeries. She retired in her early 70s. Jean lived in Alaska for over 20 years and grew to love it. A highlight was volunteering for several years at the Alaska Iditarod Race, helping the mushers and dog teams get lined up at the starting point. In 2014, Jean moved with her son and his wife to the San Antonio area. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, needlepoint, sewing and quilting. She loved old movies, especially musicals that reminded her of her dance performances as a child in England. She loved animals and enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas. Jean is survived by her children David Paul (wife, Elizabeth) Pettit, of Boerne, TX, Steven Raymond (wife, Debra) Lombardi, of Cranston, RI, and Michael Lee Pettit, of Miami-Dade, FL; grandchildren Melissa and William Pettit; and Steven and Matthew Lombardi.
