Benito Torres

Benito Torres, age 77, passed on January 16, 2018 surrounded by loved ones. Benito was born on March 21, 1940 to Felipe Torres and Matea Escalante. He was born and raised in the small town of Valle de San Juan, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Benito was the eldest of 12 children, and at the age of 14 he traveled to California where he worked in the agriculture fields harvesting fruits and vegetables in various seasons for several years. At the age of 25, he decided to settle in Austin, Texas where he started working at Butterkrust bakery which would be his employer for the following twelve years. During this time, he met and later married his wife Maria Luisa in 1971. After having three children, the couple decided to move to San Antonio, Texas in 1979 and have lived there to this date. Benito continue to work at Newell Recycling for the remaining of his working years until he retired at the age of 68. During his retirement, Benito enjoyed working in his tomatoe garden, spending time with his friends, buying lotto scratch-off tickets, and flea market shopping. Benito Beno had many friends throughout his life and enjoyed visiting old friends and family back home in Mexico whenever possible. During his younger years, he enjoyed bar-b-ques and gatherings with family and friends. His sense of humor, charisma, and gentle personality will be greatly missed. Benito is proceeded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Luisa Torres and three children Alma Gonzales and spouse Frank Gonzales, Alberto Benito Torres, Marissa Torres and spouse Alfredo Carrizales. Grandchildren, Stephanie Gonzales, Nicholas Gonzales, and Samantha Gonzales. His brothers and sisters Juan Torres, Maria Del Carmen Torres, Francisca Torres, Tomasa Torres, Lucio Torres, and Juan Torres. Cherished memories will live on in our hearts. He will be greatly missed.
