Delorash Nolan

delorash nolan
On June 22, 1942 Delorash Nolan was born in the small town of Lake Village, Arkansas. She was named by her eldest brother Eddie. She was the eighth child born to the union of Will and Alice Nolan. Her brothers and sisters affectionately called her "Loshi". Entering this world, she quickly became known for her take charge attitude and giving spirit. As a young child she worked with her parents in the cotton fields of Arkansas. She promptly learned the importance of hard work and ethics. Her family later moved to the McGehee Tillar area in pursuit of work and better living. She was reared in the path of the Lord at an early age by her mother. She was baptized at St. Andrew Baptist Church located in McGehee, AR. She graduated from Wolfe Project High School in Tiller, AR on May 19, 1960. After graduating, she lived in St. Louis, MO for a short while with her sister Alberta. She then moved to Del Rio, TX with her brother James, later settling with his family in San Antonio, TX. She worked her way through Nursing School at Lackland Air force base. She graduated as a LVN at St. Phillips College on January 14, 1973. Delorash worked for more than thirty years at the University Health System at the Clinic and the hospital in the pediatric unit. You could often find her using her nursing skills to assist family, friends, and neighbors. She joined Progressive Missionary Baptist Church in 1984. As a member, she worked on the Pastor's Aide Committee and assisted with helping prepare meals for repasts dinners at the church. She was married to Marvin Avery; to their union no children were born. "Loshi" as she was most lovingly called by her family was a devoted daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. If she could be of any help to her family or friends, she was always willing to give a helping hand. In her free time she traveled frequently and enjoyed creating a lottery pool at her job. You could often find her helping people, giving guidance and advice. She was very devoted to her nieces, Kim and Amanda who she helped raise. In late 2009, she was diagnosed with Lung Cancer. She fought a courageous battle taking chemotherapy and radiation treatments for the last two years. However, her battle came to an end on November 15, 2011. Surrounded by family and friends she took her last breath in her home and entered into eternal rest. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters Ada Fitzhugh, Alberta Robinson, Mae Will Bryant and Brother Will Nolan Jr. and special niece and nephew Carolyn Lazenby and Eddie Nolan Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters and brothers Eddie Nolan Sr. (Willie Pearl) of San Diego, CA and Azzie Lee Jones of Portland, OR and James Nolan (Lois), Hattie Hare and Alice Nolan of San Antonio, TX, and Carrie Hardeman (Clinton) of Austin, TX. Special nieces Kimberly Wolford (Gary), Amanda Nolan, Kyzhane Wolford, Alexis Hare, Goddaughter Mary Kemper, close friends Exia Duke and Doris Satterwhite. In addition she also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be dearly missed by everyone's lives she touched.
