Gloria G. Slater

Gloria Slater, 77, of San Antonio, Texas, entered eternal life on September 17, 2017, at Windsor Mission Oaks Nursing Home. Born on March 12, 1940 in New Braunfels, Texas, she is predeceased by her parents, Adelita and Cruz Gonzales; her brothers Prudencio, Jesse, Gilbert, Gabriel, Johnny, Pete, and Tony; and her daughter Michelle Meade. Gloria was a homemaker most of her life and enjoyed gardening, movies, caring for her Chow puppies, and spending time visiting with all her family. Her passion was hearing the gospel and spending time at church glorifying the Lord. When not at church, on game days you would often find her cheering for her Spurs and Cowboys. She had a wonderful smile and laugh you couldn't help but join in on. She was the original "Mama Tiger". Her motto was "take care of one another" and she gave everything she had to those with less. Left behind to treasure her memory are her sister, Lupe (Eddie) Tijerina, her three sons, Michael, Ronny, and Danny (Katherine); grandchildren, Krystal (Adam), Travis, Sara, Danson, and Maximus; great grandchildren, Adalyne, Teegan, and Emmett; and numerous loved relatives and friends. Visitation will be held at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in San Antonio on September 21, 2017 at 9:30 am-11 am, followed by funeral service at 11 am. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetary at 12:45. The family wishes to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Windsor Mission Oaks and Gentiva/Kindred Hospice for their care of our Mom for these past many years.
