For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand years. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. Psalm 84:10

AC was the second child born to Lillie Mae Thomas and Calvin McDaniel on February 3, 1949 in Jefferson, Marion County, Texas. Both parents preceded him in death. AC departed this life August 27, 2023 at Methodist Hospital surrounded by his family.

AC is a product of the Marion County Independent School District and graduated from Central High School in 1967 where he excelled in football. As a child he had a protector named King.  AC became an ambassador for Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Cypress Chapel Baptist Church by the late Reverend A.G. White. After graduating high school, he entered the Peace Corps for 2 years. Later he entered the United States Air Force in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1976. While in the military he met Stanley Wyatt, they became best friends for life. Following retirement from the Air Force, he worked in civil service at both Kelly Field and Randolph Air Force bases. He retired from civil service in 2011.

AC was united in marriage to Jo Ann Jefferson on May 17, 1974 and celebrated their 49th anniversary this past May. To this union two beautiful children were born: Alexander Cory and Jillian. AC united with Tree Mount Temple Baptist Church under the late Reverend Aristide Brown and later moved his membership to True Vision Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Michael Brown where he served as a deacon; but, his first love was ushering and greeting his fellow worshipers.

AC leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Joann; one son Alexander Cory and his wife Kimberly; one daughter Jillian; one granddaughter, Kenya; one grandson Alexander “Little AC”; four sisters: Bettie J. Gipson (Benny) of Houston, Texas; Bennie Jewell Barnett; Linda Ruth Perry (George) both of Jefferson, Texas; Essie T. 4. CandleImageI would like to send my condolences to the Thomas Family (Joan,Alex and Jill).. I met AC in 1973 when he first arrived at Civil Engineering Squadron. His height made him very intimidating, but that isn’t who Tom was. He was a gentle giant who cared about everyone..He gave great insight to the young airman he worked with .AC loved his family. He was a great husband and father. I am going to miss my dear friend. He was very wise and filled with the Holy Spirit. There were times when we had great conversations about The Lord and our relationship with him. I will miss those talks. AC I’ll never forget you brother 50 years is a long time you were like a big brother

    I THESSALONIANS 4:13
    The Comfort of Christ’s Coming
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.
