Abel Dominguez Almanza went to be with the Lord March 18, 2022. He was born August 4, 1955 in San Antonio, Texas to Jose M. Almanza and Rafaela Dominguez Almanza. Abel was a good man with a big heart. After graduation, he served with the U.S. Marines and was honorably discharged with a rank of SGT. He was very proud of his duty and service to his country. After his service, he worked in the private sector as an Electrician and later went on to work for the San Antonio State Hospital for 10 years where he retired from. Abel enjoyed being around family, grilling and cooking menudo. During Christmas time, he also enjoyed making tamales with family. He was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and had a garage full of items he collected over the past 38 years to prove it. 

Abel was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all.  Abel is preceded in death by his mother, Rafaela D. Almanza; sister, Gloria A. Cortez; brother, Joe Almanza Jr.; baby sister, Alicia Almanza and father-in-law, Antero J. Navarro.  

Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 38 years, Sophia N. Almanza; children, Abel Almanza Jr., Eric Almanza and Gabriel N. (Krystal) Almanza; grandchildren, Serenity Starr Almanza, Jaron Calderon and numerous other grandchildren; his father, Jose M. Almanza Sr. and wife, Margie; siblings, Mary (Phil) Cantu, Jesse D. (Rita) Almanza, Rosalinda (Ernest) Vega, Irene (Raymond) Quintero and Frank D. (Martha) Almanza; mother-in-law, Janie E. Navarro; various in laws, extended family and friends.
