February 22, 2006 ~ September 18, 2016
Andrew Wayne Sturtevant was born on February 22, 2006 in San Antonio, Texas to Andrew Sturtevant and Julie Phillips.
He attended Schertz Universal City CISD schools. He was unable to attend his 1st day at Jordan Intermediate and was able to attend the 2nd day, however he became ill, left after an hour of class and was taken to the hospital.
Andrew, lovingly known as "AJ" was granted his angel wings on September 18, 2016, following a lifelong illness. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Andrew had touched in some way throughout his short, yet very memorable life.
Andrew's life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives. His gentle smile could melt the hearts of those around him. He possessed strength, perseverance, and an ability to overcome incredible odds. With his courage he led us to believe that each day is a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories.
Andrew was a peacemaker and wanted everyone to get along. He never met a stranger, nor forgot anyone's name and helped everyone he could. His illness would not stop him from being happy. He became a big brother to his friend Jr. Rodriguez. He enjoyed music, played the drums and fire trucks. He was a member of the Cibolo PD Junior Police Academy.
With Andrew's passing we will remind others that his life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss him every day, especially his winning smile. He will forever remain in our hearts.
Andrew leaves behind family and friends that loved him and will forever cherish his memory. Andrew's love extends to his parents, father, Andrew and Samantha Sturtevant and mother, Julie and Craig Phillips; his siblings, John Herold, Amber Menzler and Rachel Dean; his grandparents, Darlene and Jerry Valenzuela, Darlene Brown, Marie and Jonathan Chapman, his aunts, Janet Sturtevant (Octavian) and Katherine Rankin, his uncles Greg Rankin and Wayne Rankin, nephews, Eric, Jeremy, Sean , Camaron and Grant; his nieces, Emily, Victoria and Morgan, his best friend Jr. Rodriguez; numerous relatives, friends and everyone at the Cibolo PD Junior Police Academy, City of Cibolo Police and Fire Department.
Guestbook
Rest in peace my darling blue angel. I love you buddy. See you soon.
Much love Andrew.
I am sorry to read about the loss of your son Andrew. Losing a child is one of the most painful losses anyone can experience and the hardest things to handle. The scripture at Romans 15;5 reassures us that God will supply endurance and comfort for grieving ones. May you and your family find peace and comfort during this very sad and difficult time.
