Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Angela Beltrano Jones, 80, passed away September 3, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a beautiful, ambitious, creative, fun and an extremely hard-working woman. Angela always tried to have the best time of her life. The youngest of seven, Angela had to take on a lot of “grown up” responsibilities as a young child. She cared for her nieces and nephews, helped with household chores and was always thinking of ideas to get ahead in life. In her late 20’s, Angela graduated from a beauty school. She was an entrepreneur and sold embroidered hand bags in the Philippines. In 1969, she married a dashing American man and moved with him to the United States. She worked as a waitress at Denny’s Restaurant and was quickly promoted to supervisor, a role she excelled at for decades. While stationed in Okinawa, Japan with her husband, she also worked as a taxi cab driver. Later in life, during her retirement, Angela started making and selling jewelry. Angela had a strong work ethic and instilled in her children these same values. When she wasn’t working, Angela treasured entertaining herself playing bingo with her friends (it was her favorite time). While at home, she tended to her fruit and vegetable garden. Angela had a green-thumb and loved to share the literal fruits of her labor.
Angela suffered from dementia for many years before passing peacefully to be with our Lord. Although we rejoice in knowing she is no longer in pain in God’s Kingdom, she will be dearly missed by her family and close friends. Angela is preceded in death by both parents, Francisco Sta. Ana and Sergia Simmons, and her siblings, Magdalena Simmons, Reynalda (Rining) Isip, Sinesio (Mario) Simmons and Irene Balagot.
Angela Beltrano Jones is survived by her daughter, Jocelyn (James) McDaniel of Livingston, TX.; her sons, Fernando Spengler of Spokane, WA. and John (Heather) Spengler of Hudson, FL; grandchildren, Tommie Hakes and partner, David Gaston of San Antonio, TX., Joy (George) Ponce of San Antonio, TX., Kristin (Marcus) Jones of Las Vegas, NV., Kiana (Darren) Corpuz of Bradenton, FL., Amaya Spengler of Spokane, WA., Alana Spengler, Sophia Spengler, Jenna Spengler, John Spengler Jr. of Hudson, FL.; great-grandchildren, Penelope Ponce, Eli Ponce, Jayla Jones, Pia Corpuz and Lainey Corpuz; siblings, Pablo “Paul” Simmons and Rodolfo “Rudy” Simmons; extended family and friends.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” – Lao Tzu. I am grateful for your motherly love. It was through your struggles I found the courage to be a strong woman that I am today. I pray you are comfortable and at peace with our Lord. I love you and I will keep the best of your memories alive.
Grandma,
I’ll never forget all of the times we spent together. I loved sitting around your table eating with you and hearing stories of your life. You had a great sense of humor and a laugh that I’ll always remember. I am thankful for all of the time we were able to share together.
During your life, you had 17 direct descendants. What an amazing gift of life. You held many roles in your life, but my favorite was seeing you become a Great Grandma. May you rest in peace while we keep your memory alive in our thoughts and in our hearts.
You will be dearly missed Grandma.
We will always remember.
We love you,
Your Baby Joy-Joy
Jorge
Great Granddaughter Abby
Great Grandson Eli
Jocelyn, I did not know your Mom but I read her obituary and have heard you speak of her life. She was a remarkable woman who lived a full life. Your mom is now resting peacefully in the arms of Jesus. God bless you and your family.
Much love,
Leif, Jayne and Sammy
We want to express our deepest sympathy to your family for the loss of your Mom/Grandma/Great Grandma (Auntie Lilly to us). We know how much you cared for her and loved her.
“The Lotus Sutra, the core of Mahayana Buddhism, states that the purpose of existence, the eternal cycles of life and death, is to be “happy and at ease.” Just as sleep prepares us for the next day’s activity, death can be seen as a state in which we rest and replenish ourselves for new life.”” Rest In Peace Auntie Lilly. May you be enlightened and be free from suffering for all eternity.
Much love, Nora and Justine
Your life was a blessing to many, for without you there wouldn’t be a me.
Thank you for the time we spent! I will always cherish the memories we made. I appreciate your openness, understanding and free spirit. You were always ready to go somewhere or do something.
Although not every day was full of rainbows & sunshine, I know that everything served a purpose in my growth. I am happy that you are now with God. You’re healthy now, have a clear mind and can have all the sweets you want!!!
We love you
