Armando Antonio Alferez

armando alferez

April 17, 1967 ~ December 3, 2022

Born in: El Paso , Texas
Resided in: New Braunfels, Texas

Armando “Tony” Alferez was granted his angel wings on December 3, 2022 at 55 years of age. A man of exceptional generosity who always thought of the well-being of others before his own, he awaited his homecoming peacefully, content that he had fulfilled his life’s mission, surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life.
Born in El Paso, Texas, he graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Midland, Texas. Shortly after moving to San Antonio, Texas, he began his stellar career in computers. He had an incredible work history as a Data Analyst, System Designer and Builder for different companies including Workforce Solutions Alamo and Ranstadt/Capital Solutions – a wizard with the computer. But perhaps he was best known as a Karaoke Emcee with hundreds of followers-some calling him a legend at the mic! Blessed with a great singing voice, he once competed in The X Factor where he moved beyond the first round of auditions.
His life may seem too short to those who are asking for “just one more day” with him, but those who were touched by him understand that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time. Although he was of very strong character, his gentle smile and quick witted nature brought joy to his family and friends, reminding them of how precious life is. His remaining days were spent under the loving care of his family and a multitude of caring healthcare workers and doctors for which we are truly grateful.
Tony is survived by his loving family; his sister Ana Alferez-Hopton with husband Steve of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; his uncles and aunts are Hector Perez with wife Irene of El Paso, Martha Guzman with husband Jesus of Dallas and Rogelio Perez with wife Clara of Houston. His cousins are Linda Nadler of Houston and Monica Ida Pahigiannis with husband Derek of Brooklyn, New York and Marisa Perez Riner and her husband Spencer of Houston, Danny Perez and Michael and Andrea Nadler and second cousin Miles Riner, all of Houston. His nephews also include Erin Alferez, Alan Helt, and Harley Hopton and grandnephew Morgan Helt, of Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
Special recognition and appreciation is given to the following friends who were close to him and provided support to the family during his final days: David Reyes, Crystal Magaña, Becky and Vince Beasley. Special appreciation is given to his very dear friend Jenn Mercado and her son Cadin Smith who Tony took on as his adopted son, mentoring and guiding him.

A Celebration of Tony, Tony, Tony, including Karaoke, will follow at 4-6 pm at Steely Nevada’s B&L, 7530 Bandera Rd, San Antonio. (210-509-6977 )

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. CandleImageEven though I never kept connected with him when he left Maximus I will never forget how he was such a sweet soul and always had a smile on his face. He was always there to cheer everyone up and keep us laughing. I remember him always talking about going to the Karaoke clubs and having such a great time. My prayers for his friends and family for their loss and know that Armando will definitely be missed but not forgotten.

  2. CandleImageI will miss you my friend. I’ll never forget our duets, and fun conversations. I know you’ll be singing with Angels. RIP 🩷

  3. CandleImageI am so glad to have met Armando. His smile and personality could light up the room. He will definitely be missed.

  4. CandleImageTony always had a shine about him even when we were kids. He was also so talented. He had an ear for music and a love for it. That’s what made him such a talented French horn player in jr. high and high school. He also had a wonderful voice. I remember our mom use to have cleaning days. We would play music as we cleaned. Tony and I would sing along with the songs like bohemian rhapsody, each of us singing different parts. It wouldn’t take long for mom to hear us and come check if we were cleaning… Every time I hear that song I think if him and those times. I always looked up to him when we were kids. Then as we grew up I admired him. He was so smart and witty and full of life. Then when our mom got sick, I appreciate him and was so thankful. I couldn’t be there with mom like he was. He gave her strength. I am going to miss him and I’m sure he is shining even brighter in heaven.

  5. CandleImageMy dear cousin Tony, it was with great shock to hear of your passing. I’ve known you since you and your sister Anne were born. Such wonderful years from many years ago when you all lived in El Paso. You were always the shining star among the little ones and know that myself, Rosemary and her family were devastated to hear that you passed way. We haven’t stayed in touch for so long and I just wish I had come see you. But someday we’ll meet up in heaven and talk about all those old times we shared. My condolences to Anne and her family in your passing. My you always watch after your sister from above and keep her safe. I’ll surely miss you ….
