Aubrey Elwood "Buddy" Beverly 1922 2013
Aubrey was born December 16, 1922 in Sweetwater, Alabama to Aubery and Janette Lisenbe Beverly. He was raised in the Bryan, Texas area where is attended the local public schools.
He was employed by Shell Oil Refinery in Deer Park, Texas from 1942-1960 in the engineering field department. He took a leave of absence to enlist in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II where he served as an aerial engineer and crew chief in the New Guinea and Southern Philippines campaigns. After being honorably discharged he returned to work with Shell Oil Refinery. During his last eleven years with Shell he began to study and practice real estate brokerage.
In 1962 he married Marianne Elliott after a lengthy courtship and to this union one son, Barry was born.
Upon leaving Shell Buddy entered the real estate business becoming a real estate broker specializing in commercial and industrial sales, residential subdividing and investments in the Pasadena, Houston area. He moved his family to San Antonio where he continued in real estate investments. He continued his career in real estate until he closed his office in 2012. During his career he was on the Pasadena Board of Realtors from 1951-1986. He served president, chaired numerous committees and was named Realtor of the Year in 1976. He also served three terms as director of the Texas Association of Realtors, two terms as regional vice president and two 3 year terms as a Texas Realtor's Foundation Trustee. He was also a member of the National Association of Realtors.
Buddy was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, Texas, a Mason and the American Legion.
Buddy is survived by his wife of fifty years, Marianne; son, Barry; brother, Murphy Travis Beverly and his wife Trevia. He will also be remembered by several nieces and nephews along with relatives and friends.
