Born in: Weimer, Texas
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Barbara Ward, who left us peacefully on January 30, 2025. A woman of immense love, kindness, and selflessness, she was the heart of our family and will forever be cherished by all who knew her.

Barbara was a devoted mother to a large family, pouring her love and care into every one of her children. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support were the foundation on which her family stood, and she created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and a sense of belonging. Her love was endless, always putting others first and making sure her family was cared for in every way.

She found joy in the simple moments—whether it was sitting on the porch, enjoying the serenity of the day, or watching her favorite television shows, a pastime that brought her comfort and happiness. A gifted cook, Barbara was known for creating delicious meals that brought everyone together around the table.

Her kindness was evident in every act, no matter how small. Whether it was offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or a warm smile, she always made others feel seen and valued. Her gentle spirit touched countless lives, and her selflessness will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Barbara is preceded in death by both parents Wilbert Johnson Sr. and Johanna Baity Johnson, as well as sisters Diane Johnson, Mabel Haywood, Brother Wilbert Johnson Jr., and son Kenny Ward. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Loretta Warren, Deloris Ward, Johanna Johnson, and Mary Linder, sons Tyrone Ward, Orville Ward, Everton Ward, Akbar Ward, and Baleva Ward. Barbara is also survived sister Wilma Velasquez and Brother James Johnson (Brownie), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Though she has left this world, her legacy of love, care, and compassion will live on in the hearts of her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
