Beauty Jackson, affectionately known to many as “Aunt Cookie,” was born on March 21, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas. She was a beautiful woman in every sense of the word; not only in her appearance, but in the love she carried in her heart, the kindness she showed to others, and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone around her.
Beauty had a presence that was impossible to forget. She was stylish, classy, and always beautifully dressed. Looking good was simply part of who she was, but her love of fashion was really another way she expressed her love for others. If Beauty saw something she thought someone would like, she would buy it for them. If she had something she thought would look good on someone, she would gladly give it away. She had a generous heart and found genuine happiness in making other people happy.
To know Beauty was to know someone who would help whenever she could. She was a light to her family, friends, and everyone blessed to cross her path. Her caring spirit, giving nature, and willingness to lend a hand made her someone people could depend on. She never needed a reason to show kindness. Helping others simply came naturally to her.
Beauty was also a woman who took pride in her work and in caring for others. She attended San Antonio College and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN). She devoted many years of her life to nursing and caring for others, continuing to work until approximately nine years ago, when her health began to decline. Her career reflected the compassion that had always been a part of her character.
Beyond her professional life, Beauty had a competitive spirit and a love for athletics. She remained active throughout her life and especially enjoyed track and field. She was strong, energetic, and determined. Her love of softball continued for many years, and she proudly played well into her 60’s, a testament to her strength and youthful spirit.
But perhaps what Beauty will be remembered for most is the way she made people feel. She had a heart that gave freely, a smile that could brighten a room, and a spirit that made people feel loved. She was “Aunt Cookie” to many, but she was so much more than a nickname. She was a beloved mother, cherished aunt, a friend, a caregiver, and a blessing to countless lives.
On September 3, 2026, Beauty Jackson peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home. While her family and loved ones grieve her absence, they can find comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on through the people she touched.
Cookie is now joyfully reunited in eternity with her parents, Mae Ella and Lenard Stevenson; her dear brothers, Clayton Smith, Clinton Smith, Leanard Stevenson Jr., and Clifton Smith; her beloved daughter Ella “Pinkie” Hurd; her beloved grandson, Elijah Johnson; and her precious great-grandson, J’Anthony McKnight.\
Her legacy of love, strength, and grace will live on through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted children, Nicole Outing and James Moore, and her loving siblings, Geneva “Red” Lewis, Gladys Miller, and Will Smith.
Cookie’s spirit lives on brightly through her six grandchildren: Byron Hurd (Tequa), Kirstain Thompson, James McKnight (Jasmine), Jomani Outing, Grace Wallace (Dillon), and Jamal Moore; and her six great grandchildren: Se’Maj McKnight, Se’Myaa McKnight, Kyron Hurd, Matthias Wilson, Da’Kari McKnight, and Jonah Wallace. She also leaves behind a rich host of cherished cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly but find comfort in a life so beautifully lived.
Beauty was more than a name, she was a beautiful presence. She gave freely, loved deeply, helped willingly, and brought light wherever she went. She will forever be remembered, forever loved, and forever cherished.
