Calvin Lloyd Perry, Jr. was born in Houston, Texas on December 25, 1980 to Calvin Lloyd Perry, Sr. and Katherine Lee Perry. Calvin relocated to San Antonio, Texas in 9184. At a young age he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Boyd Chapel A.M.E. Church where he was baptized.
He started his education at W.W. White Elementary, then he continued on to Jeff Davis Middles School where he found his love for sports. Following middle school, he attended Sam Houston High School where he continued to participate and excel in athletics. He showcased his many talents on the track team and basketball team but his favorite sport was football where his love for the game really shined. Calvin graduated from Sam Houston High School in 2000. He began his college journey attending Ranger College in ranger, Texas, he later transferred to Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. While attending TSU he started working for FedEx. It was after college where Calvin found his career path with Blackmon Mooring where he worked for many years. Later he joined the family business working for BBQLife. He held many positions, his presence was warm, his demeanor was welcoming and his service was appreciated.
Calvin became a father to a baby girl named Ava J. Perry and in 2011 he was blessed with a baby boy named Brycen L. Perry. His children changed his entire outlook on life. Calvin was a loving and devoted father, always dedicated with putting his family first. Calvin had a generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was sincerely love by many. He touched so many people through his everyday life. He was known for being the life of the party and it was never a dull moment with him. He was stylish, loved to travel with his family and eat good food, especially home cooked meals from Granny Lee (G.G.). Surrounded by his loving family Calvin passed away peacefully on June 17, 2024.
Calvin was preceded in death by his grandfather’s James Lee and Fleetwood Perry, Jr. uncles, James Lee “Butch”, Allen “Scotty” Lee Sr., and James Brady; aunts, Patricia “Ann” Lee and Brenda Perry. His beautiful life will be forever cherished by his parents, Katherine Lee Perry and Calvin Lloyd Perry, Sr.(Darlene); children, Ava J. and Brycen L. Perry; the mother of his children, Ashley; nephew and niece he helped raise as his own, Christian and Krisalyn Ashford; grandmothers, Frances “G.G.” Lee and Adora Perry-Fox; siblings, Krystal Ashford (Christopher), Tamika Derouen-Sykes, (Tametria Porsha), Camakia Davis (Eric), LeKeva Jefferson (Rodney), Darvin Perry, Danielle Perry, Demitria Perry, Montrey Singleton, LaKivous Singleton and Calvin Turner; aunts and uncles, Evelyn Williams, Mary Williams, Delores Lewis (Richard), Anthony Lee (Dorothy), Carl Lee, Sr. (Edith), Curlee Brooks, Robert Williams (Emma), Estelle Williams and a host of family and friends.
Calvin’s loving spirit will remain in our hearts and impact our lives forever. As Calvin would say “At the end of the day…” I MADE IT Y’ALL!!
