Carl was born to Lillie Barnes and Dave McGrue, Jr. on January 30, 1945, in Speaks, Texas.  He attended school in Hallettsville, San Antonio, and East Central ISD.

He accepted Jesus into his life as a teenager. Carl united with Star of Bethlehem Baptist in 1968 and was ordained as a deacon in 1968. He later moved his membership to Gardendale Community Baptist Church when it was organized on January 26, 1969.

Carl married Barbara Ramsey in May 1964. To this union, three children were born – Paula, Carl Jr., and Charles.

In December 1986, he married Maymie Darden.

He worked for many years as a truck driver for Handy Andy and Fleming’s trucking company. Carl later relocated to the Dallas area and worked for the Dallas School system as a bus driver for ten years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lillie Jeffrey, Dave Jeffrey, and Dave McGrue Jr; his wife Maymie Williams and son, Carl R. Williams Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory; daughter Paula (Danny) Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas and son Charles Williams of Wharton, Texas; brother Roy (Corine) Wilson of San Antonio, Texas; sister Hollice Miller of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Danny Williams of San Antonio, Texas, Kandace McGary of Rockwall, Texas, Robert Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas, Thomas (Jackie) Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cherrelle Gray of Corpus Christi, Texas, Cheyenne Williams of Houston, Texas and eighteen great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving loyal friends.
