January 14, 1937 ~ June 8, 2024

Born in: Manila, Philippines
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Carmen C. Alabada went to the loving embrace of our Lord on June 8, 2024.

She was born in 1937 in Manila, Philippines. Above all, Carmen’s life was defined by her desire in helping others, being a mother and her devotion to her faith.

Carmen exhibited a thirst for knowledge and always stressed the value of EDUCATION. She eagerly studied Accounting at St Theresa’s College, earning her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and graduating Magna Cum Laude.

After graduation, she earned her CPA license and worked in diverse industries which included a tire manufacturer, an accounting firm, a supermarket and an advertising agency.

She was approached by many people due to her generosity and kindness and she often supported many charitable causes, among them a convent which her aunt Sister Rosa was a part of, priests studying through seminary school and a number of underprivileged children in miscellaneous universities in the Philippines. She frequently gave her time and money supporting causes that promoted education, her faith and her beloved Roman Catholic Church.

While she loved her work, her favorite role was being a mother to her three children and she considered parenting them as her biggest accomplishment.  Her daughter graduated with honors at Ateneo de Manila, received an MBA degree from Tuck at Dartmouth College and went on to become a very successful executive in the private sector. Her eldest son graduated as an engineer from Trinity University and as a lawyer with honors at Ateneo Law School. Her youngest son also graduated Cum Laude from Trinity University, is currently a CPA and runs the family business.

In her free time, she loved watching basketball and the many different versions of the daily news, humming and singing her favorite Whitney Houston songs and playing the role of doting grandmother to her grandchildren.

She is survived by her siblings, Anne, Jose (Boy) and Nestor (Dondoy), her three children and spouses, Cecilia (Miguel), Benedict (Michelle) and Patrick (Bridgette) and her grandchildren Zayden, Logan and Cara and her many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at MeadowLawn Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX. As Carmen prioritized finding joy in life and sharing it with others, the family asks that you do the same – go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you. If you feel so moved, reach out and tell us about it – or another joyful time shared with Carmen!
