Carmen Margarita Gutierrez

carmen gutierrez
Carmen Margarita Gutierrez (Ortiz) was born on January 4, 1954 to Ruben and Maria (Maro) Aviles- Ortiz in Lorain Ohio. She was the second child of thirteen children. Carmen excepted Christ at very young age, under the leadership of her mother Maro at Sacred Heart Chapel. She was baptized, where she received her Holy Communion and completed her confirmation. Carmen was known for helping her mother around house as she raised her younger siblings. Carmen was united in holy matrimony to the late Celetino Gasper Gutierrez on August 12 th 1970. With this union six children were born. Shortly she moved to San Antonio to live with her husband and extended family where she was loved dearly. The Passion of Carmen life was cooking for her family, at the age of 16 she learned how to cook under the leadership of Fela Gutierrez and Andrea Gutierrez. As years passed cooking became her profession and hobby where she was known for teaching and blessing her family and friends with her cultural dishes. As time passed her family grew, so did her love. She was known for helping other’s whether it was cooking, cleaning or just basic conversation. Carmen had love for gambling, which included Bingo, Loteria and teaching her grandkids how play 31 and Left Right Center. She had a great love for children, and was always surround by the love of her grandkids and family. On June 22, 2020, Carmen answered God’s calling and went on to her eternal resting place. She is preceded in death by her parent’s, Ruben Aviles-Ortiz and Maria Demetria Melendez Aviles-Ortiz, Husband Celetino Gutierrez, granddaughter Margarita (Ita) Gutierrez & Niece Melissa Ortiz- Bebbington. Don’t grieve for me, now I am free. I am following the path God has laid for me. I took his hand when I heard him call. I could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work, to play. Task left undone must stay that way. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joys. A laugh, a kiss, oh yes these I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow. My life has been full. I’ve favored much good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Left to cherish her memory are her six children; Christina Gutierrez, Carlos Gutierrez (Missy), Cynthia Gutierrez, Josephine Gutierrez, Celetino Gutierrez(Melissa), and Carolina Ford (Gene), eight brothers; Jose Ortiz. Tomas Ortiz, Samuel Ortiz, Harold Ortiz, Paul Ortiz, Ciprian Ortiz, Tony Ortiz, and Juan Ortiz, four sisters; Rosie Ortiz, Mary Lou Soto, Elizabeth Santos, and Felicia Ortiz Armitage. 22 grandchildren; Rebecca, Christopher, Selena, Crystal, Trevor, Olivia, Darius, Garvin, Raylynn, Mark, LaDesia, Tatiana, Alijae, Isaiah, Caleese, Saniah, Noah, Tino, Aiden, Jeremiah, Zariah, and Nehemiah.
