It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Celestine Martin, who left this world on March 12, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on August 16, 1943, Celestine was the matriarch of our family, whose love, strength, and warmth touched all who had the privilege of knowing her.

As a mother, she was the unwavering foundation upon which our family stood. Her love for her children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and she always put the needs of others before her own. Her home was a haven of laughter, love, and comfort, where everyone felt welcome, heard, and cherished.

Celestine had an undeniable passion for life. She adored spending time with her family, creating memories that will forever be treasured. Whether it was around the kitchen table, sharing a meal she and her children lovingly prepared, or simply enjoying a shopping trip, her joy was found in the presence of her loved ones.

A wonderful sister and friend, Celestine brought light into the lives of those who were lucky enough to know her. She was always there to lend a helping hand, offer support, or just listen when needed. Her loyalty, kindness, and compassion were felt by all who encountered her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of love, strength, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. We take comfort in knowing that she is at peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave in life.

Celestine is survived by children Joel Ezebb, Jolanda Brown (Donald), Davina Moses (Cedric), and Marva Martin-Brown, Siblings David Brown, Ivory Brown, James Brown, and Bonnie Gonzales, grandchildren Tamisha, (Omatayo), Marquise, Darian, Joel II, Amber, Janae, Gail, Branden, and Heaven, as well as great-grandchildren Khamil, Marquise II, Amiyah, Jaquise, Violet, Ireayo, and Firefunmi. And a host of kids and grandkids she loved as if they were her own. She is preceded in death by both parents, John Albert Brown Sr. and Blanche Gonzales Brown, as well as siblings Nona Boyd, Johnnie Mae Brown, John Albert Brown Jr, and Kenneth Brown. Celestine also leaves behind lifelong friends Hannah, Carmen, Bernadette, Anne and Fur Baby Blueberry.

Celestine leaves behind a life and legacy that will not soon be forgotten. She will be missed dearly by everyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
