February 3, 1963 ~ January 13, 2013
Celia A. Tynes was born February 3, 1963 to Howard Wesley Tynes and Mabel A. Tobin. She was the youngest of eight children. Celia was born premature, but grew up to be strong and healthy. When she was three months old she was baptized at St. Gabriels Catholic Church with our family friend and sponsor, Mrs. Christianson and Sister Celia of the Selesian Sisters of St. John Bosco as witnesses. Celia was named after Sister Celia, who was a teacher at St. John Bosco and a pillar of the community. When Celia was three years old her mother passed away, her grandmother, Annie Mae Tobin, stepped in to raise the children. Celia attended St. John Bosco until the fourth grade then transferred to Lincoln Elementary School and later graduated from Edgewood High School in 1981. Always smiling, Celia loved people, and would give her last dollar to someone who said they were in need. At the age of 25 she developed kidney disease and after three years on dialysis she received a kidney transplant, but lost it thirteen years later. Unfortuanately, she started dialysis again and continued this process until the Lord took her home on December 13, 2013. Even though she endured taking lots of medication, pain and countless procedures Celia was very optimistic about her illness. She had plans to go to school, getting her own apartment and getting married. Though they were unrealistic it was what kept her going. Celia loved telling jokes, helping people, and giving advice about her special remedies for certain illnesses. About five years ago she went to live with Mrs. Lolita Garcia's Adult Foster Care Home. It became her second home. Mrs. Lolita Garcia's family and the residents of the Care Home became extended family. She was love and well taken care of there. She also attended Our Place Adult Day Care where she made lots of friends. She enjoyed going there participating in crafts, bingo all kinds of games and contests. She loved dressing up on Halloween and Valentines Day and won several contests. Celia always won at bingo and loved it! She loved playing dominoes and won almost all the time. This was her passion, Winning!!!!
Celia was proceded in death by her mother, Mabel A. Tobin, her grandmother; Annie Mae Tobin, her brothers, Norman L. Tynes and Timothy C. Tynes and her father, Howard W. Tynes. Celia will be missed greatly by her sisters and brothers; Mabel Tynes, Sandra A. Hartley, Jeffrey P. Tynes, Paulette A. Tynes, and Martin W. Tynes along with nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
