Life Journey of a Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, and Friend

“A Time to be Born”
Charles Edward Peterson was born November 18, 1951, in San Antonio, TX, to the late Jessie Peterson Sr. and Emma Mae (Williams) Peterson. He was the third of eight children in this blessed union. As a young boy, Charles was trained and taught about the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Childress Memorial COGIC under the late Bishop T.D. Iglehart.

“A Time to Plant”
Charles received his formal education in the San Antonio Independent School District at Robert E. Lee Elementary, Emerson Jr. High, Wheatley High, and Fox Tech High School.

“A Time to Build”
Charles built his life on working at an early age with his father at Armstrong Industries, Butter Krust Bakery, and later Oak Hill Country Club, where he worked untiringly for fifty years. The Oak Hill Country Club members honored Charles with a retirement party recognizing his devoted service. In April 2024, Charles received an honorary plaque and was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his service. Charles built his life around his wife and family, doing the right things the Lord had put in his heart to do as a man of God.

“A Time to Love”
Charles E. Peterson united in holy matrimony to a blessed, loving, and beautiful wife, Alice M. (Reed) Peterson on September 14, 1971. In this union, two children were born: Denny Peterson Sr. and Teanitra (Peterson) Goffney. Charles and Alice Peterson shared a love of fifty-one years of marriage. Charles made a difference in the lives of everyone he came in contact with. Charles was an outstanding man, devoted father, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Some of Charles’s fondest memories were spending quality time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charles loved playing his lotto, music and loved his sports. His father “affectionately” called him “Charlie”. God gives us all a task on earth, and when God deems that task finished, he calls us home to rest. Charles is a survivor of many health challenges to name a few, he has survived cancer, two back surgeries, and a kidney transplant but he never once complained. His faith in God and determination brought him through victoriously.

“A Time to Reap”
Charles accepted the Lord at the age of ten, where he was baptized under the late Bishop T.D. Iglehart. “Greeting Him with Open Arms” Charles was preceded into death by his parents Jessie Peterson Sr, Emma Mae Peterson, and three brothers: Melvin Peterson, Danny Peterson, and Leroy Peterson.

‘A Time to Celebrate”
Charles leaves to cherish his precious memories and celebrate his love and life: Wife Alice Peterson, Son Denny (Denise) Peterson Sr., Daughter Teanitra (David) Goffney, God-daughter Michelle (Tim) Moody, Seven Grandchildren: Jalessa Peterson, Gabriell Kimble, I’munique Thornton, DaShunique Peterson, Denny Peterson Jr., Deant’e Goffney, and Davante Goffney and six great-grandchildren: Corneuslis Greenwood, Kylani Walker, Imunique Greenwood, Kalaih Walker, Kamarian Walker, and Jamarion Duhart, Mother-n-Law Elsie Freeman (San Antonio), One sister Maedell (Peterson) Hardy, Three brothers: Jessie (Linda) Peterson Jr., Donald J. 8. CandleImageTo my family we love you all. Our prayers and hearts go out to you all. For the peace my cousin Charles aka (Daddy) has now, is the peace that gives us peace, in knowing he is resting in the arms of the Heavenly Father. I will say today, is a day to mourn, yet today is also a day we must celebrate. Celebrate a great man and one whose life was big, and was filled with much love. We all are blessed to have known such an incredible human being. One who was more than what we even knew. Yet one who understood the assignment. He loved the Lord and the Lord loved him. Charles life defined what a God fearing man was, and what a loving husband, strong father and a hard worker and family man looked like. He will always be remembered and forever loved. May his life be a reflection of what Gods Grace is and be a reminder of what purpose means. God bless all the family may time heal your broken hearts and may the many memories always live within us all. May Gods light shine bright in us all. Amen

  9. So much to say, about such a special man. One who gave so many great things to actually say. Charles life was filled by his big heart that always showed love and his smile that gave life. He was a man who was kind and loving and just worthy. One who always was there for his family, one who did his job and handled himself with dignity and showed respect to others. He was more than a nephew. He was a blessing. May his life be remembered and his memory never be forgotten. May the family continue to find the light that God has placed within. May your days become brighter in time. May God heal and mend your broken hearts. 💕 Love you all.
