Charles Nation was born March 23, 1949 in Crystal City, Texas to Verdo F. County, Sr. and Nettie Nation County.  Following his birth, they moved to San Antonio, Texas and this is where he attended school.

Charles was a hard worker and he went from school into the work force.  In his younger years he held various jobs, later in life he worked for Walmart for over ten years.

He pursued his passion, barbecuing.  He drove his truck pulling his pit, selling bar-b-que all over town.  Charles had some of the best bar-b-que around.  He was a people person, people were drawn to him and he met no strangers.  He loved children and to everybody’s child he was Uncle Charles.

On April 26, 2024 the Lord called him home with his wife, Greta and his sister, Faye “Julia” by his side. Charles was proceeded in death by his parents, four siblings and his grandson, Mello.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of twenty four years, Greta Nation; children Brian Polk, Kendrick Cooper, Shaundra Hughes (Robert) and Alaya County-Powell; grandchildren Robert Hurd, Jr., Ra’Jean Hurd, Korianna Polk and Corey Polk; siblings Verdo County, Jr, Nettie Ann County, Corine County, Julia F.
