Charles R. Hill was born December 22, 1940 in Eagle Lake, Texas to loving parents Charles Roy Hill and Iona Austin. He passed away the morning of June 7, 2023 at the age of eighty-two. Charles was nothing short of an amazing Father, Grandfather, and Brother.

Charles had many hobbies he devoted his time to. Those hobbies include operating his CB radio, 62-Blanket, and communicating with others all around the world. Charles also enjoyed racing cars along the Alamo Raceway, including his personal 56 Chevy.

He started his career fixing odds and ends as a manager around the San Antonio Housing Authority, quickly becoming the Supervisor of over five Housing Complexes.

Charles is preceded in death by both parents, as well as his Step-Father MSgt John Paxton. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 60 years Anita, Daughters Linda Fitzgerald and Deborah Hill , Sons John Hill, Michael Hill, Todd Hill, and Charles E. McBride III. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Charles leaves behind a life and legacy that will not soon be forgotten. He will be missed dearly by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Charles and I are first cousins and I’ve tried calling him many, many times and the number were not working. I’m so sorry to hear that Charles has passed away. He was the oldest grandchild on the Austin side. Aunt Iona and my dad (Clifford Austin) were sisters & brothers. You all are in my thoughts and prayers during your time of sorrow.
