It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Chester Wayne Hermes, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the age of 75. A beloved son, brother, friend, and respected member of the community, Chester lived a life marked by dedication, service, and hard work.
Born on November 9, 1949 in San Antonio, Texas, Chester graduated from Salem Sayers High School and went on to serve our country with honor for 23 years in the United States Air Force. Rising to the rank of Master Sergeant, Chester dedicated his life to the service of others, exemplifying the values of discipline, leadership, and commitment.
After his distinguished military career, Chester returned to civilian life, where he became known for his work in the construction industry, operating a dozer equipment company. Whether on a job site or helping friends and family, his skills and determination were unmatched. He also found great joy in his time spent working on the ranch, where he particularly enjoyed bailing hay and contributing to the upkeep of the land he loved.
A true outdoorsman at heart, Chester found peace in the simplicity of ranch life, and his hands were always busy with one project or another. He cherished the company of his family, the camaraderie of his friends, and the tranquility of the land.
Chester Wayne is survived by sister, Shirley Mae Duncan and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Chester will be inurned in Oak Grove Cemetery in Yoakum, Texas
May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
