Clarence Julius Sapenter, (“Slick”) was born on March 2, 1944 in San Antonio, Texas to Hensley W. Sapenter Sr. and Willie Ella Sapenter.

Clarence attended Phillis Wheatley high school. After graduation, Clarence received an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Prairie View A&M University. He attended PVAMU from 1962-1966 and completed a degree in Industrial Education & Technology. After graduation, Clarence began his career with the San Antonio Independent School District. He was employed 30 plus years as a coach and wood shop teacher at Harris Middle School.

His vast knowledge on how things worked made him the “go to” for when family and friends needed items fixed or tinkered with. He was always generous with his time and efforts because he loved planning and working on projects.

Clarence leaves to cherish his daughter: Tameka, son-in-law Kelvin C. Raven; two grandchildren: Kelvon Julius and Kenede Ja’Nese; brothers: Hensley W. Sapenter Jr., Michael (Bernadette) Sapenter, and Dwight (Gloria) Cunningham; god-sister: Anita McKinny, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family.
