Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

David Castillo Vasquez Sr. went to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior on March 22, 2022. David was born June 22, 1954 to Victoria and Gilberto Vasquez in San Antonio, Texas. He married his wife Norma on October 19, 1983. David had 7 children, David Jr., Andrew, Iris, Valerie, Luis, Vanessa and Christopher.

He spent his working years doing various jobs including cement truck driver, real estate consultant, and scraper. David loved his family and friends very much. On any given day you could find him helping a friend in need or supporting his kids and grandkids in whatever they were involved in. He had a servants-heart and was always willing to help anyone in need, day or night.  His servants-heart extended into the kitchen where he could be found cooking tamales, cakes, daviskes (empanadas) for large groups of family and friends. His food was made with love and he took great pride in his process. Not only was he known for his delicious food, he often had a classic story or joke to share.

David was ordained as a minister of the Gospel in 2017 and took every opportunity to share his love for the Lord with everyone around him. He loved studying The Word and growing in his knowledge of the Bible. David knew he wasn’t a perfect man, but more than that he knew he was forgiven and covered by the blood of Jesus. We can rejoice knowing he is healthy and worshiping with Jesus now.

He is preceded in death by his parents Gilberto & Victoria Vasquez; siblings Rosalinda, Oralia, Lupe and Richard Vasquez; sons David Jr. and Andrew Vasquez.

David is survived by his wife Norma, children Iris (Luis), Valerie (Jacob), Louis, Vanessa (Fulgencio), Christopher (Jane), grandchildren; Ashley, Abigail, Xanthia, David IV, Emily, Erica, Andrew Jr., Leeroy, Carlos, Angellynn, Emily, Aurora, Gabriel, Fernando, Joseph, Ciera, Marissa, Jullian, Sarai, Brianna, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Melody, Nahyeli, Eli, Olive, Ava,  5 great-grandchildren, siblings; Mary Lou, Rebecca, Gilbert Jr., Rudy, Raul, Arturo, Rogelio, Rene and Rueben, cousins, nieces/nephews and many close family & friends.

The family is very thankful for all the medical team through the past few years and providers that have taken care of him in this time of need.  In lieu of flowers, there is a gofundme (https://gofund.me/2b84e1f5

) to help with funeral expenses.
