David Wayne Bruinekool

It is with great sadness that we share the news of Dave’s death on September 27, 2024. Dave was the son of Martha Juanell (Sheffield) Bruinekool and Douglas R. Bruinekool.

Dave had an incredible knack for building or fixing anything, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone working on a project. He had many friends from his hometown of Pella Iowa to his boating days on the Mississippi and beyond to Texas, Mississippi and New Hampshire. He is survived by his loving wife Susan, his son Josh and a granddaughter Victoria. His brother Miles and sisters Nina, Liz and Stella were wonderfully supportive of him during his devastating illness. He is also survived by his older brother Virgil and nieces Teah Vest, Jillian Cox and Modena Rueda; nephews Ty Muncie, Jesse Cox, Jacob Cox and Billie Spratt. He is also survived by his neighbor, friend and uncle Jimmy Sheffield and aunt Pammie.

Dave had many travel adventures. He and Susan met at Willie’s Hidden Harbor when Dave was on his way down the Mississippi on his “catacanoe.” They eventually continued on a 1500 mile journey on their houseboat to Waverly, Mississippi. They had a Caribbean wedding cruise, a Panama Canal cruise, a cruise around Italy and a trip to Hawaii. Their purchase of a motorhome added to their US wanderlust.

Dave was a hardworking, fun loving person who will be missed by his many friends and family.
