Denise Yvette Duncan Evans transitioned peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her home on Sunday, January 10, 2021. Denise was the first of five children born to the late Leroy Duncan, Jr. and Gwendolyn Pittman Duncan in the suburbs Chicago, IL on September 13, 1953. Denise received her formal education in Chicago, IL graduating from Thornton Township High School. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication and Media at Western Illinois University, Class of 1979. Denise loved the Lord and confessed her belief in Christ at an early age. Later in life after moving to San Antonio, she united with Livingway Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Steve Fender. She was a faithful member until COVID-19 precautions caused her to worship from home. Denise was employed as an Executive Assistant at Ella Austin Community Center for over 20 years retiring on May 31, 2020. There she was a productive and essential resource in the community and loved helping people in need. She was well liked by all and will be remembered for her warm and friendly smile. Denise loved her family and enjoyed cooking delicious meals for them. She was the loving and caring caregiver of her dear mother. Denise was preceded in death by her son Darren Andrew Duncan; father Leroy Duncan, Jr.; paternal and maternal grandparents; and nephew Marshón Keith Duncan. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters Sherice Nicole Duncan, Dallas, TX, and Breanna Nadeen Duncan, Atlanta, GA; one step-son, Timothy Evans, Dallas, TX.; one grandson, Dyvaryn Hubbard; a devoted mother Gwendolyn Duncan; two brothers, Kurt Duncan (Jennifer), Houston, TX, and Aaron Duncan (Felicia), Tucson, AZ.; two sisters, Gail Duncan Ross (Ray) Columbia, MD, and Arlette Krystal Duncan; a sister in Christ, Sheila Meadows; nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of other loving relatives and close friends.

  5. I met Denise in Cedar Hill, Texas in church. Over the years, she moved to San Antonio and I moved to Colorado Springs. We remained friends and have shared both happy and trying times I will miss Denise. I pray for her children and family. I extend my condolences to you and to my friend, Rest in Heaven.
