Devie was born April 14, 1942 to Devie and Myrtle Boone in Louisburg, North Carolina. His family attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Halifax NC. Boone graduated from Perry’ s high school in Centerville North Carolina. He joined the United States Army in 1967 and served as a medical specialist and an environmental health specialist for many years until his retirement. Devie traveled the world in the US Army which included Germany, Panama and Vietnam. Devie married Jeraldine( deceased) to which Gregory and Devie lll were born. Boone served his country and retired with an honorable discharge in 1987 with the rank of Sergent first class. Devie married Gerarah Rashed to which Deva and Kahlil were born. Boone was also a loved and cherished addition to the Green family. Boone had many hobbies which included “tinkering” with many things, cooking, and shooting pool, but he enjoyed reading and fishing the most. Boone tried to get to the coast whenever he could and would sit for hours catching fish. Throughout his adulthood Boone researched many religions from Christianity, Islam, and Hinduism but in the end decided Buddhism was something he wanted to follow. Boone never met a stranger and was always willing to help and offer advice. Boone loved to share his knowledge with anyone who would listen and loved to talk and share life stories. He never forgot a face and rarely a name and if he met you once he welcomed you as a friend. He will be deeply missed by family and friends and all who know him.
