Diane Marie Johnson, a longtime resident of San Antonio, Texas departed her life here on earth on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at St. Luke’s Baptist Hospital surrounded by family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert Johnson Sr. and Johanna Baity Johnson; her siblings, Mable Hayward and Wilbert Johnson Jr. She leaves to forever cherish and adore her memories her two daughters, Bridgette Tilghman, Lisa Patrick (Jason) and son, Aaron Johnson. Two loving and devoted sisters: Barbara Ward and Wilma Velasquez and brother, James Johnson. Seven grandchildren: Nikki Tilghman, Jock Tilghman (Marissa), Joseph Johnson, Joshua Johnson, Jacob Velasquez (Alyssa), Jade Velasquez and Autumn Patrick. Six great-grandkids: Jacob Kai, Kace, Boston, Gigi, Malani, Rylie and a host of relatives and friends.
Diane was employed by Willows Development Center since the 1980’s until she retired in 2016. She dedicated over 30 years of her career to helping others with mental and developmental needs. She was an active member of her church Mt. Nebo Full Gospel Church led by Pastor Dr. Walter L. Cornelious.
Diane had a passion for sports and loved the Dallas Cowboys. During the off season she would be entertained by the melodrama of pro wrestling or a good detective story. She enjoyed traveling to her childhood hometown of Weimar, Texas to visit family and pick up some of that famous Weimar sausage along the way. She enjoyed spending time with family, reading her bible and attending church. But she will be most remembered by how she touched so many lives with her giving spirit and unconditional love.

I had the pleasure of knowing and working with Diane since 1985 at Cresthaven Childrens Center then again in 2000 at The Willows Development Center. She was a very caring, competent and excellent employee. She had a “special way” with our “special” children! I will remember her dearly!
