Dominique Anthony Thomas made his grand entrance and was born on August 19, 2024. Though his time was limited to one day, a few others and I could tell he was going to be something special. Therefore, my best friend and Dominique’s aunt, Marynthya McElroy, nicknamed him, “Mr. Personality.” On April 16th, I found out that I was pregnant before I went into work. I was so surprised, but it was as though we made an instant connection. His grandparents and a few other loved ones made this pregnancy journey one to remember, and we couldn’t wait to welcome him into the family. Throughout my pregnancy, I ensured that I spoke to him and prayed for him daily. Although he was in my womb, Dominique was a lover of good food, especially home cooked meals from his grandma, Stephanie aka “Lovey”. Dominique loved music, and he made sure to be my dance partner to his 4 favorite songs, Rock Steady, Not Like Us, Remember the Time, and God’s Got a Blessing. This summer, Dominique was a great travel buddy when we went to Tuscon/Phoenix, Arizona, Turks and Caicos, Dubai, and the DMV/Philly/NYC area. Dominique was a natural leader like his grandpa, Mark aka “Papa”, and he was my little decision maker when it came to going places and trying new things. His birth came early and was unexpected, but God truly blessed me with a remarkable son who forever changed my life. When he was born, it was as if time stopped, and we melted into each other. I never knew I could love someone so much in such a short amount of time. As soon as he was placed in my arms, he laid onto my chest and wrapped his hand around my finger. He may not ever know how much he positively amended my life, but I’m honored that God blessed me to be his mother, and I will always remember and cherish my sweet baby boy, Dominique.
Dominique Anthony Thomas is survived by his mother, Desarée Thomas, his grandparents (Mark and Stephanie Thomas), his aunt, uncles, and cousins on his mother’s side of the family. He is proceeded in death by his great grandparents (Louis and Sara Thomas) and (Harvey and LouAnn Pride), his uncle Marcus Thomas his great uncle Louis Charles Thomas, his great aunt Melanie Pride, and other loved family members. Heaven gained the sweetest angel, and I know our loving family in heaven is holding onto Dominique for me, giving him love, and showing him how to watch over us.
Baby in Heaven
I am here in Heaven, God took me by the hand. Wrapped me in His love, gently led me to His land.
I will always be your baby, Our hearts joined by love. Perfect as an angel, I am watching from above.
I am a part of you, though brief the time we shared. Take comfort, be healed, I’m safe in loving care. Remember me with joy, lift a smile to the skies.
Say a prayer for me, let there be no sad goodbyes.
One day we’ll meet again, a lifetime I will wait. You will know the little angel with outstretched arms at Heaven’s gate.
As you walk through this time of loss, may you know that the Lord walks with you and He will comfort you.
