August 6, 1954 ~ December 5, 2005
Donalyn Coker was born in San Antonio on August 6th, 1954 to John 'Jack' Coker and Ruth Rambie Coker, both deceased. Donalyn will also be joining her beloved Uncle Donald, Uncle Fount and Aunt Jane Rambie. Also pre-deceasing Donalyn was her favorite fishing companion, her grandmother, Gera Rambie.
Donalyn received her undergraduate degree from Trinity University and later work as a claims adjuster for USAA. Fifteen years later, she chose to pursue her first love, teaching. After earning her Masters from Trininty, Donalyn began teaching in the North East ISD. She was particularly touched by the struggles of elementary level at-risk students and she spent her own time and money helping many of those children.
Donalyn is survived by her sister, Susan Coker Tullos, nephews, David and James Tullos, sister, Michael Ann Coker, brother-in-law John Cockerell, nieces, Tina Berain and Courtney Cockerell and great nephew, Joseph Berain.
Donalyn was a supporter of several animal charities and she was a devoted cat owner. She was an intelligent, beautiful and fun loving woman. Although she struggled with Diabetes since childhood, she retained her wonderful sense of humor. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Humane Society of San Antonio, 4804 Fredericksburg Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78229. Services to be announced at a later date.
