Dorothy Mae Macias, known lovingly as “Dot” passed away March 25, 2022. She was born June 20, 1944 to Ernest and Lucille Lawson in San Antonio, Texas. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother and friend. Dorothy received an Associate’s degree in Education. She worked many years as a lead teacher and loved working with children. Dorothy was very much involved in her community, president of the Sunshine Committee, member of Bexar County’s Sherriff’s Citizens Academy and Food Bank volunteer. She enjoyed poker, bingo and activities with her ‘Sorento’ community. Her sense of humor enabled  delivery of wisecrack responses with the timing of a seasoned comedian. She brought smiles to faces and laughter to souls.   

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Glyn Rutherford and Gregorio Macias; parents, Lucille and Ernest Lawson; sister, Mary Alice “Bitsy” Guttierrez.  

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Joe (Norma) Rutherford, Ernest (Joann Gonzalez) Rutherford; grandchildren, Ernest Edward (Sonia) Rutherford Jr., Nicole Denise (Erik) Carr, Joseph Henry Rutherford, Eric Joey Rutherford, Stephen Hank Rutherford and Jacob Daniel Rutherford; great-grandchild, Julian Rutherford; sisters, Sylvia Hall and Betty Jean Stanek; and longtime friend, Elena Robles; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
