Edgar Neloms

Edgar Neloms, Sr., age 77, peacefully passed away at his home on January 2, 2025, after a long and fulfilling life. Known for his straightforward, no-nonsense yet laid-back demeanor, Edgar was beloved by his family and friends who cherished his unique spirit.
Born on February 26, 1947, in Quitman, Georgia, Edgar was the third eldest of nine siblings. He was the son of the late Marcus Lee and Mamie Lee Neloms. Edgar attended school in Brooks County, Georgia, before moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he enrolled in Job Corps and mastered automotive body repair.
In 1972, Edgar married May Rosa Keel, and their union was blessed with three children. Seeking new opportunities, Edgar relocated his family to San Antonio, Texas, where he built a successful career in the autobody paint and repair industry. He worked for Red McCombs Ford and Ken Batchelor Cadillac, dedicating nearly three decades to his craft. For a time, he also owned and operated Neloms Auto Bodyshop.
Edgar was passionate about spending quality time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and especially cooking, delighting in watching family and friends savor his barbeque and sweet potato pie. Edgar also loved listening to music, watching sports, and indulging in his favorite Western films.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, May Rosa; his parents, Marcus Lee and Mamie Lee; his brother Charlie (Juanita); and his sisters Fannie Mae, Marie, and Yvonne. Edgar leaves behind his three children, Edgar Jr., Roxanne, and Chaka; his grandchildren, Sankofa, Malika, and Arya; his siblings, Frank, Otis (Alice), Marcus Lee, Jr. (Delores), and Veronica; along with numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Edgar’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston St, San Antonio, TX. Family and friends are warmly invited to honor his memory. Those wishing to send flowers may have them delivered to Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 5611 E. Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78220.
Edgar’s legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
