Edna Earl Byrum Stockton, born January 28, 1912, slipped away peacefully December 24th, 2005 at the age of 93. She led a joyous and peaceful life, her church always a large part of her life, she was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church until her health began to fail. Edna Earl was born in Dallas, Texas to Lee A. Byrum and Ethel Andrews Byrum. She lived in Dallas until the age of 21; she married Hayden Keith Stockton in 1932 and they moved to Goliad, Texas. There were no paved roads and electricity was not available. There was certainly no sounds of the Big Band Sound and ballroom dancing. Her life as the wife of a rancher-farmer was a bold move from the bright lights of Dallas. Three years later, they moved to their property near Charco and Runge. Edna Earl was active in her community, First Baptist Church and also active in the PTA. She was always at the school to lend a helping hand whenever needed. She moved to San Antonio in 1961 after the death of Keith and was employed by the Trinity University Registrars Office until her retirement. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Laura Chamberlain in 1982. She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Chamberlain, granddaughter, Carol Chamberlain Fernandez and two great-granddaughters, Adriana and Laura Fernandez; her sister Nan Alexander of Dallas and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Her family, her church and God a central part of her life, now has a higher calling to soar with the Angels. God Bless you Mother. A private service will be held for the immediate family in Runge, Texas, Wednesday, December 28th, 2005.
