January 12, 1932 ~ January 3, 2026

Born in: Laredo, Texas
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Elena Duarte was born on January 12, 1932, in Laredo, Texas, to Juan Duarte and Sara Saaverda de Duarte. She passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 93.

Elena was a devoted housewife and, early in her life, a successful business owner. She owned and operated her own beauty salon in Nuevo Laredo, where she lived with her beloved husband, Bernardo Garcia, Sr., and their two sons.

Elena was a lovely and elegant woman who enjoyed singing the old songs of her time. She took great pride in her appearance, always impeccably dressed, with her hair done to perfection. Her strong faith in God guided her throughout her life and gave her strength during times of loss. After the passing of her husband and sons, Elena lived with her sister, Esperanza D. Salas, until Esperanza’s passing.

Elena was preceded in death by her husband, Bernardo Garcia, Sr.; her sons, Carlos Garcia and Bernardo Garcia, Jr.; her sisters, Esperanza D. Salas, Eva Alarcon, Celia Ramirez, and Ofelia Martinez; and her brothers, Oscar, Roberto, and Juan Duarte.

She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, Sara Salas and Gloria Salazar (Hector); her nephews, Mario Salas (Camilo) and Robert Salas (Alice); and her cherished grandchildren, Homero, Bernardo, Eduardo, Juan Carlos, Miguel Angel, Jorge Alberto, Lisette, and Abigail Melissa.

Elena will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. She is now reunited in eternal peace with her husband, sons, parents, and beloved siblings.
