Born in:
San Luis Potosi, Mexico
Resided in:
San Antonio, Texas
Felipe A Gonzalez passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by his family on October 29, 2023, in Spring Branch, Texas, at the age of 83. He was born in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Engracia Aguilar and Salvador Gonzalez on February 5, 1940, and was the fourth of six children.
Felipe met Maria Irene Nieto in Laredo, Mexico, and married her on January 26, 1970. Shortly thereafter they moved to San Antonio, Texas, and established their family. They raised their three daughters and two sons and shared a solid union of 46 years together. Felipe and Irene’s decision to move to the United States was a testament to their determination to give their children opportunities they would not have in Mexico. Immigrating to the United States led to three of his children graduating college, one of which is a federal government employee and a union steward for the American Federation of Government Employees.
Felipe was a steadfast devoted son, father, husband, and grandfather, and was a great provider for his wife along with his family. Felipe grew up on a ranch in Guadalcazar and throughout his adult life he continued to love the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting, he enjoyed fixing things, and he loved cooking on his barrel grill while having a cold beer. He enjoyed watching Western movies and his favorite NFL team the Dallas Cowboys, his favorite NBA team the San Antonio Spurs, and his favorite MLB team the Texas Rangers. Felipe was a strong silent type of man who loved his family and was always willing to help those in need. He also cherished his three grandsons, Jaime, Nathan, and Jamie, all who were very dear to him.
In his final year of life, he moved to the Texas Hill Country with his daughter Violeta Gonzales. Felipe stated living close to nature gave him peace and joy and it reminded him of his childhood. He spent many evenings exchanging hunting adventures with his son-in-law Stephen Peterson while enjoying sunsets on the deck. Felipe will be forever cherished and deeply missed by all his family and friends. This is not a farewell but a tribute to the legacy Felipe leaves behind, reminding us his spirit lives on in our hearts and in our shared memories.
Felipe is preceded in death by his wife Irene Gonzalez, mother, Engracia Aguilar, father, Salvador Gonzalez, and four brothers and one sister. He is survived by his daughter Argelia E Martinez, daughter Violeta Gonzales and son-in-law Stephen Peterson, son Cuauhtemoc F Gonzalez, son Guillermo A Gonzalez, daughter Stephanie Irene Gonzalez, and grandsons Jaime M Martinez Jr, Nathan S Fabela, and Jamie Martinez.

You told me you were afraid to be alone. You were not alone. I held your hand as many times as you asked me to. I saw you take your last breathes. You are now resting in peace. Say hi to mom.
Love,
Your first born child
