Florence Marie Hydrick

florence hydrick
Florence Marie Hydrick, born February 2, 1925 in Brownsville, TX. She was 88 when she entered into eternal rest on August 19, 2013. She will reunite with her parents Taylor and Frances Holland of Amarillo, TX. She is survived and remembered by her son John Hydrick and wife Sylvia Hydrick, her Grandson Taylor and wife Melissa Hydrick, Granddaughter Tiffany as well as her Great Grandchildren, Taylor Sheffield and Chase Hydrick and many numerous other friends and family members in Mississippi. Marie as she liked to be called became a Texas Peace Officer in 1981 after retiring from Civil Service at Kelly AFB. She dispatched for the Sheriff's Office in Atascosa Co. on the weekends for over a year. Then was commissioned by Sheriff Garza at the Bexar County Sheriff's office where she dispatched for several years as a reserve deputy before getting hired at the jail as a matron (detention guard). Dispatching was more of her dream so an opening at Castle Hill's PD enticed her away. Marie dispatched there for five years before retiring again. However she just couldn't stay away from dispatching "her officers as she liked to call them" so she was commissioned as a non-paid deputy and dispatcher for Bexar County Constable Pct.#4 for eight years before completely retiring to her hobbies. She was an avid fisherman, painter and loved riding her Gold-Wing motorcycle. Marie's love of Law Enforcement and dispatching had a side effect too. Her only son John, became a peace officer in 1978 and has served Bexar County for the past 35 years, Bexar County SO for 10 years, Shavano Park P.D. for 6 months and 24+ years at the Pct. 4 Constables office. "And they say young men follow in their father's footsteps" well not this time.

  3. Dear Hydrick family,

I am so sorry for the loss of your Mother.

After reading the lovley write up about her, I felt cheated that I never had

the chance to meet this wonderful lady.

It’s sounded as if she touched many lifes, just like her son John does.

I pray that God will Bless you all with many sweet memories to sustain you at

    this very difficult time.

    Sincerely,

    Linda Luersen

  4. From the Family Of Deputy William A.Taylor we are sorry for your loss. We hope God will give your family the strenth to carry on and to remember the good times and the many years that God gave to your love one on this earth.God Bless you all.

  5. I worked with Marie at Kelly AFB and am proud to have known her then. She was always a fun person, but a “straight-shooter” who could tell it like it is. She was proud of her relationship with law-enforcement and believed in honesty and hard work. She will be missed by any who knew her.
