It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, who left this world peacefully in the early morning hours of June 17, 2025.
Born on January 24, 1935, she was truly one of a kind – a woman whose presence radiated warmth, love, and unwavering strength. She lived a life rooted in family, faith, and tireless dedication. As one of eleven children born to Joseph Moryl and Gladys Boniewicz, she grew up in a bustling, loving home where hard work was second nature. From an early age she lent a helping hand in her family’s store, Moryl Grocery, developing the work ethic and spirit of service that would define her life.
At just 21 years old, she moved to Lubbock, TX for 2 years, to help open a branch of Metropolitan Life Insurance as the office supervisor. She moved back to San Antonio, TX where she continued to work for Metropolitan for more than 30 years. She earned the respect of her colleagues and clients alike through her integrity diligence, and compassion.
But her greatest joy – and most profound calling – was found in being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved deeply and nurtured endlessly, creating a home where all were welcome and cherished. Her selflessness and generosity knew no bounds. Whether she was playing the piano, composing heartfelt songs, organizing family raffles, or attending family bingo nights, her joy was infectious and her love was unmistakable.
She was preceded in death by both parents, as well as her loving husband of 48 years, Larry Joe Parnell Sr., a bond that was an enduring testament to partnership and devotion. She is also preceded by sisters Sophie Madalinski (Walter), Helen Farley (Tom), Margie McEwen (J.J.), brothers Thomas Moryl (Elise), Stanley Moryl (Teresa), and Joseph Moryl Jr. In-laws Valeska Parnell, Joseph B. Parnell (Emma Lou), as well as siblings-in-law Richard Moore, Fred Mollenkopf, Ann Moryl, and Bob Tudyk, granddaughter Lindsay Kotara, and fur baby Batty.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Laurie Cullen (Brent), Linda Kotara (Jeffrey), Larry Joe Parnell Jr. (Susan), as well as grandchildren Cailee, Chloe (Jacob), Jared (Elvia), Aron (Ashley), Cassidy (Chance), Larry III, Courtney, and Alex and Katherine Colig, and great-grandchildren Chrysalyn, James, Emory, Mason, Reins, Harlyn, Luca and two on the way. She also leaves behind sisters Gladys Moore, Josephine Mollenkopf, Antoinette Tudyk, brother, Johnny Moryl, sister-in-law Cheryl Moryl, brother-in-law Kenneth Parnell, and numerus nieces and nephews.
Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched – with her boundless love, steady hands, and nurturing heart. She was the anchor of our family, and though we are heartbroken by her passing, we are forever grateful for the time we shared and the memories we hold close.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Heart of Texas Hospice, and to the women who lovingly cared for her the past few weeks.

Linda & Family, we are so sorry for the loss of your mom. We are keeping you all in our prayers and are here if you need anything. Jeff always told us how you took such good care of your mom, know that she left this world knowing she was loved and that is the best thing we can give each other. We pray that she now rests in Gods most perfect peace and that He gives those left behind to mourn her passing comfort and peace. Know that you will see her again and that will be a beautiful forever reunion. Take comfort in knowing that she is healed and at peace. Speak of her often and know that we love y’all so very much.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. Revelation 21:4
