Francisca J. Garza

francisca garza
On January 28, 2021, at the age of 80, Francisca “Frances” J. Garza passed away after a brief illness in San Antonio Texas. Frances, also known by many as Pancha or Darling, was born on May 31, 1940 to Liborio Jacobo and Teresa Ramirez Jacobo in San Antonio. For more than 30 years, Frances worked at Kelly Air Force Base in several positions in the Aircraft Section of the Aircraft Maintenance Division. She loved working at Kelly and took pride in her work and made many lifelong friends. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Raymond and Liborio, Jr and “adopted daughter” Claudia Sanchez. She is survived by her children to include Aurora (Jerry) Perkins, Francisco Javier (Annie) Garza, Mario (Laura) Garza, Teresa (Tony) Triana and Sonia Garza. Frances greatest joy was spending time with her children, 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and extended family to include her “adopted children” that she saw as her own to include Melissa (George) Mendoza, Jose Luis de Aguila, Charles (Janie) Steen and Alfred Sanchez. In addition, she is survived by her sister Connie McMahon and half siblings Frank Jacobo, Esther Villanueva, and Lydia Pena. No matter what Frances did in life she did it big…. she loved big, she laughed big, she showed emotion big, she cooked big and shared what she had to the largest extent possible. She was devoted to serving the Catholic school community and was always seen working, supporting and cheering all as if they were her own at school games, festivals, bingos and various functions. She was a big animal lover and enjoyed her time with her many dogs, chickens, birds and whatever other animal she decided to take in. She leaves behind a huge void in our lives but left us with larger than life memories. The Holy Rosary will be recited 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Meadowlawn Funeral Home. In effort to follow COVID 19 guidelines, we are requesting no more than 50 people gather for the rosary to help stay within the CDC guidelines. Live streaming will be available beginning at 1:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, February 15th at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church (1321 El Paso St). followed by a private family burial at Meadowlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in our Mom’s name (Frances “Darling” Garza) to the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, 6019 Buena Vista St, SAT 78237 or by visiting https://salesiansisterswest.org/support-our-mission/donate-now.
