Dr. Gary Dean Reinhardt, 72, of Cibolo, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 13 in San Antonio, TX after a long illness. He was born on July 10, 1951 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Kenneth and Lorain (Michael) Reinhardt. He grew up in Chester, Illinois. Gary married Mary Lou Mann on August 19, 1972 at Mary Help of Christians Church in Chester, Illinois.

 He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine, and the Medical College of Wisconsin.

He served on active duty with the U.S. Navy Dental Corps and was the Dental Officer on the USS Midway in the Persian Gulf during the Gulf War in support of Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  He retired from the US Navy Reserve with the rank of Captain after 22 years of service. His family is proud that he is forever immortalized on the USS Midway Museum in their Dental Department display.

After his active Navy service, he entered private oral surgery practice in Carbondale, Illinois and Austin, Texas.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Mary Lou Reinhardt, Cibolo, TX; mother, Lorain Reinhardt, Carbondale, IL.; daughters, Crystal (Brandon) DuRette, Austin, TX, and Gretchen (Dennis) Fivecoat, Cibolo, TX; son, Nicholas (Joy) Reinhardt, New Berlin, TX. ; sisters, Connie (Carl) Favreau, and Gina (Charles) Shiplett; brother, Keith Reinhardt and 7 grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Reinhardt.

Funeral mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on January 4th at 11:30am with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery (1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd.) in San Antonio, Texas at 2:45pm, where military honors will be rendered.
