George Dears

George Dears, affectionately known as "Bubba" passed away on July 11, 2016. He was born on July 26, 1961 in San Antonio, Texas to Sir Van Dears, Sr. and Ernestine Wright Dears. At the age of four, George was baptized at Little Flower Catholic Church, along with his brother Sir Van, Jr. and his sister, Debra Ann. George attended Jeff Davis, Jr. High School and graduated in 1980 from Thomas Jefferson High School, both in San Antonio, Texas. George began working with the Baptist Health System in 1980 in the Housekeeping Department, but soon moved up to Operation Room Technician. He enjoyed talking to the patients and making them smile. While working at the Baptist Hospital, George met Della Jane Huerta and together they had two children; Joshua Sir Van Dears and Cassandra Renee Dears. In 1985, George and his mother started the Dears Janitorial Service. His bubbling personality and outstanding work ethics allowed him to obtain many contracts around San Antonio, for many years. Later, George married Michelle A. Allen and together they had two children; Isiah Isaac Dears and Jasmine Dears. In 2010, George started working at Santa Rosa Hospital as an OR Tech, where he remained until 2012. George loved laughing and talking with people, but the joy of his life was spending time with his children. George believed in prayer and always reminded his children to pray daily. George enjoyed riding his bike around the neighborhood and talking to his neighbors. George also loved working in the yard and watching the San Antonio Spurs games on TV. George is preceded in death by his mother, Ernestine Dears; father, Sir van Dears, Sr.; and brother, Sir Van Dears, Jr. George leaves to cherish his memory, sons: Joshua Sir Van Dears and Isiah Isaac Dears; daughters: Cassandra Renee Dears and Jasmine Dears; sisters: Debra Reece (Rogers), San Antonio, TX; Marie Martin, Macon, GA; Linda Mayo, Pflugerville, TX; Cathy Osio (Robert), Converse, TX; brothers: Joseph Gibson (Sheri) and John Luther Kelley, both of San Antonio, TX; aunt: Charlie Belle Hill, Baltimore, MD; six nephews, six nieces, three great nieces, three great nephews and other relatives and friends.
