George R. Hemphill

George R. Hemphill was born February 17, 1943 to Frank Henry Hemphill and Edna Banks Hemphill in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Cuney Elementary, Douglas Jr. High school and Phillis Wheatley High School graduating in 1961. After graduating from high school George attended St. Philip's College and worked as a Mechanic and was in the United States Marine Corp. Reserves from 1963-1969. He joined St. Paul United Methodist Church and was baptized at an early age.George was married to Rita Lane Myles and to this union one son was born, Carl Anthony Hemphill. His parents, Frank Henry and Edna Hemphill, preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory, his son: Carl Anthony; two brothers, James and Gregory (Norma); two grandsons, Cory and Jacoy. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who loved him dearly.
