George Thompson was born January 22, 1938, in Weimar, Texas. He was the youngest of three children born to the union Mr. Clardie B. Thompson of LaGrange, Texas and Alma Davis Thompson of Weimar, Texas. As a young child, the family moved to San Antonio, TX. George professed faith in Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated and faithful member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church. George was great at shooting pool and participated in various tournaments throughout the city; additionally, he was an excellent dominos player and competed in tournaments at the Claude Black Community Center and at Comanche Park. He was preceded in death by his parents Claudie B. and Alma Thompson; wife Mamie Thompson; sister Gloria Mae Thompson-Williams; son Calvin B. Ware; and niece Linda Marie Thompson. He leaves to cherish his memory brother Clyde D. Thompson, of San Antonio, Texas; daughter Verina Thompson, of Los Angeles California; stepsons Charles Solomon and William Hayes Jr.; sons Roderick Thompson, Donald Thompson, and Hemion Thompson, of San Antonio, Texas; Michael Thompson, George Thompson, Jr.; and Robert Thompson of Dallas, Texas; brother elect Paul Gentry, numerous grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
