Geraldine "Jerry" Durst was born on December 28, 1929. She was the second child born to Blanche Hubbard and Elijah Durst in San Marcos, Texas. She attended public school in San Marcos. Geraldine had to stop her education at an early age. She had to work and help her mother take care of the family. Geraldine was baptized at an early age. She loved the Lord and was always singing old hymns and quoting scriptures. Geraldine had one brother and two sisters. She was the mother of seven children. Geraldine was a single mother. Her children were her life. She worked several jobs to take care of her children. Geraldine took care of her youngest sister. She worked at a boarding house as a cook for Mrs. Penn in San Marcos, TX. A few years later as her children got older she moved to Oklahoma City for three years. Geraldine than move to San Antonio, Texas. She got a job working at the Blue Room Caf. Geraldine worked there for a number of years. Her last employer was Brooks AFB, she worked there as a custodian for 18 years. She stopped working to care for her ill Mother. Geraldine raised her oldest granddaughter. She was a caregiver to many of her grandchildren's. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do to help you. The neighbors loved her, because she would watch over the neighborhood. Everyone knew her as the lady on the porch. Geraldine was a strong and fearless woman. She would give you her last dime are a cup of coffee. Geraldine hobbies were taking care of her birds, plants, and fishes. She loved to cook Sunday and holidays dinner. Her family is going to truly miss her. She was Royalty to their family. Queen Geraldine "Jerry", such a Blessed Soul. Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents Elijah Durst and Blanche Hubbard Franklin brother Wallace Kirk Sr. and sisters Doris Reed and Arzalia Williams son Wallace Durst Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory children: Kathryn Davis, Mary Perryman, Dennis C. Durst Sr (Denise) Donnie Durst (Yolanda) Kenneth Durst, and David Ollison. She was blessed to have twelve grandchildren, eighteen great grand children, and two great great grandchildren. She also has a new addition on the way a great grandchild. A host nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
