Gloria Franco Martinez

gloria martinez

On September 25, 2020 Gloria Franco Martinez was called home by our lord and savior. She was born in Roswell, New Mexico. She loved gambling, especially the slot machines and anyone that wanted to go to Louisiana or Texas casinos, you were always welcomed to go with her and her devoted husband. She was known for her loving and wonderful personality that filled any room with joy and laughter. She always made sure that anyone that came to their home left knowing that they were always welcomed. Nobody ever walked out of the home hungry or sad. She always had ice cream, cookies, candy and jello on hand. She always taught us never to fight over food or money because sharing was God’s way. Through her beliefs in the Catholic faith, she fought the battle with cancer numerous times. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Rudolfo G. Martinez, daughters Patricia Hernandez and Ruby Alvarez, Son Rudolfo Martinez Jr. along with their spouses and one brother in-law,
9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She will live in our hearts forever.

  4. From your only son, I loved all the times we got to travel together, from Ruidoso, NM, to South Padre Island, to North Padre Island where we rode golf carts on the beach and we drank before noon, to Eagle Pass where you gave me my 60th birthday winning ticket, to Louisiana where we gambled and even went to a casino for a Gator show and to the many times we spent with you at home just talking, laughing, joking, and drinking with me getting in trouble. I will always love you and miss you dearly, until we meet again. Love JR.

  5. Mrs. Martinez was such a fun person to be around. She was always so welcoming and full of life and laughter. I will cherish the memories I have of her while hanging out in the backyard. Day or night, weekend or weekday, she was always so happy to see you. Her stories and comebacks were the best! ❤

  6. My grandma was my comfort, she was my peace, and my solace. Losing her has been the hardest thing I have ever had to endure. I miss hearing her voice on the other end of the phone saying “God be with you.” I will miss making her laugh when I would attempt to sing any Spanish song. Most of all I will miss her hugs and just being near her. Until we meet again at heavens pearly gates I love you Grandma so much.

  7. My mom was such a wonderful person. Everyone she met loved her so much. I miss her every second of every day. She died way too soon, but I have faith that we will see each other again. I love you mom 💕⚘

  8. I was blessed to marry into this family and be able to call this amazing woman grandma. Always a smile on her face and hugs to give. She had the biggest heart and could always make you laugh. She will be greatly missed but will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone she met. Until we meet again Grandma…. your quick cracker.

  9. Hi grandma!!! I love you and will miss you alot. I’m glad you got to meet Jazmin and Amanda. You could always make me laugh and always made sure I had something to eat even when I was not hungry. There won’t be a day that goes by I will not think of you. I promise you every time before I go up to the plate I will make the sign of the cross like you always did when I left the house. I love you grandma and miss you so much. I will play cards with Jazmin and eat a pizza with her like you did with me. Love You Jon Paul Jazmin Amanda

  10. Grandma, I sincerely miss you. Over the past two weeks, I have been recalling the times when I would spend the night and watch you rehearse your famous “snake” moves as you were getting ready to go out with Grandpa. Hilarious. LOL!!! You were always so spunky and far younger in your spirit than your age. I also remember the small green Chevrolet “Bessie” that you would tote us around in as you took us to the park or to get an ice-cream. I will never forget your cute husky laugh as people would pass you by because you drove so slow. What a legacy Grandma! Surrounded by all your family who loved you dearly as you went into eternal rest shows what you meant to everyone. Love you always Grandma.

  11. I don’t have any pictures but I know someone in my family does but I remember going over as a kid and my tia Gloria, tio Rudy, my grandma Paula and grandpa Fred would always make me go up and sing a song either by Emilio or the Home town boys! I was always shy but looking back I wish I could have those nights again so I can sing one more song to my grandparents and my tia Gloria😢 they are united together once again till we meet again we love you and you will never be forgotten! Jacob Lopez (Yayas youngest )

  12. Hi Nana, my sexy stuff, I miss you so much. I’m so happy when we spoke that last time you called me. I knew then, but now I know you were saying bye and in a beautiful better place. I’ll never forget your beautiful smile when I said goodbye. I know your listening to George up there💓 God bless you Nana, love you forever and ever, Amen💐

  13. Mr.Martinez, Pat, Jr., Ruby and your families, Thelma and I send our condolences and prayers to all of you.
