Resided in: San Antonio , Texas

Gloria Jimenez Ornelaz, lovingly known as “Gore” by her family and friends, gained her angel wings on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the age of 78.

Gloria was born on October 17, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to the late Basilia and Bartolo Jimenez. She was the second oldest of her siblings and grew up surrounded by the love and strength of family—values she carried with her throughout her life.

A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, Gloria’s family was the center of her world. She had a truly big heart, always putting the needs of others before her own and giving generously of her time, love, and care. She helped raise her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy, creating memories and lessons they will carry with them forever.

Gloria was blessed with many talents, but she was especially known as a master seamstress. She lovingly made clothing for her children as they were growing up, stitching every piece with care and devotion. She was also an excellent cook whose meals brought family together around the table and created lasting traditions.

She treasured spending time with those she loved, especially at family BBQs, lively games of BINGO, and spirited card games. When it came to playing cards, Gloria showed no mercy—her competitive spirit always brought laughter and unforgettable moments. She also loved dancing, playing pool, baseball, and volleyball.

Some of her happiest memories were made during family trips to the Corpus Christi coast. An avid swimmer, Gloria found great joy in the water and loved spending time fishing with her family. Those beach vacations will forever be cherished by everyone who shared them with her.

Gloria was a woman of unwavering strength, deep faith, and remarkable resilience. She faced life’s challenges with courage and grace, serving as a source of love, wisdom, and encouragement to everyone blessed to know her.

Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we find comfort in knowing that Gloria’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so deeply, the countless lives she touched with her kindness, and the beautiful memories she leaves behind.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Pedro C. Ornelaz, Jr., granddaughter, Yvette Ornelaz; 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten by her children, Pedro J. Ornelaz III (Suzanne), Fernando J. Ornelaz (Nina), Vera Turruviate (Arthuro), Reymundo J. Ornelaz, Jesse J. Ornelaz, Herman J. Ornelaz, Carolina J. Ornelaz (Raymond Cervantes); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Helen, Diana and Terry and numerous other relatives and friends.

“Her love was the thread that held our family together, and though she is no longer by our side, that thread will never be broken.”
