March 18, 1959 ~ April 30, 2025

Born in: Altus, Oklahoma
Resided in: San Antonio, Texas

Harold was the second gift of life and blessing given to his parents Ernest Sr. and Betty Jean Greenwood on March 18,1959 at Altus AFB, Oklahoma.

Harold accepted Christ at the age of thirteen. He was baptized at Coliseum Park Baptist Church by the late Rev. Lemuel Smith. He was also a member of the youth choir under the leadership of the late Sister Dorothy Smith.

Harold completed his education in the San Antonio Independent School District, graduating from Sam Houston High School in May of 1977.

Due to Harold’s father’s stellar military career in the United States Air Force, he along with mother and siblings, were able to travel within the United States and abroad to Bitburg AFB Germany, Walker AFB, New Mexico and Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.

On May 18, 1988, Harold and Mary Greenwood were blessed with a precious baby girl, Camile. They loved her unconditionally and made sure all her needs were met. Harold was so proud to be her dad and her accomplishments during her adulthood.

Harold was a dedicated Front Loader Operator at Waste Management for 32 years. Many of those years, Harold received numerous perfect attendance awards. He was the type of employee who his supervisors could depend on to get the job done. After separation from the workforce, Harold was blessed to become a first-time grandparent to Kahlil Jamir. He was affectionally loved his new name, “Pop Pop.”

During Harold’s adult life, he was a member of the Coliseum Park Baptist Church for 32 years. He attended Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, Vacation Bible School and was a member of the Youth Choir.

In 1988, Harold became a charter member of Maranatha Baptist Church, later named Maranatha Bible Church. On Easter Sunday of 2014, Harold became a First Believer at Agape Christian Church. His favorite spot on Sunday’s was sitting next to his mother by making sure she was okay as he experienced strengthening his knowledge about the word from God.

During Harold’s adult life, he enjoyed watching all types of sports and he loved to BBQ and cook. Most importantly, Harold made time in his schedule to check on the widows and the elderly of whom he lived near his childhood home and with close friends of his beloved parents.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest S. Greenwood, Sr. and Betty Jean Greenwood.

He leaves to embrace his precious memories, his daughter, Camile Greenwood, grandson, Kahlil Jamir, bonus son Michael (Brandon and Tyler), bonus daughter Denise (Sherice and Skye), brother Ernest S. Jr, (wife TaShun), sister, Sylvia Ann Greenwood, nieces and nephews, Brandon and Andrea Greenwood, Brittany and Eric Dawson, Brent and Annette Hildebrand, and Shanteil Greenwood, great nieces and nephews, Breya, Maxwell, Eliahs, Jaxson, Zaquoia and DeAndre, uncle, Robert B. McClure, Sr., aunts, Mary Greenwood and Billie J. Perryman and a host of cousins from the Greenwood-Hicks-Mitchell and Bailey-McClure families.

We take comfort in knowing that Harold Greenwood has returned to the arms of our Heavenly Father. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in God’s promise: “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

The Sawyers sends it’s deepest condolences. We are still in total disbelief. We were neighbors for about 40 years, we were practically family. We had a great time growing up as kids, you will be missed my brother. Sleep well brother Harold.
    Much Love to the Family!
    Good Bless.
