On March 27, 2007 our dear sweet mother, Helen Jean Black 'Nanny' went to be with the Lord at the age of 72. Born May 30, 1934 and preceded in death by her parents Randolph and Hazel Winona and son-in-law Vernon C. Arnold, III. Survived by her children Buddy Van Winkle and wife Ann, Chester Ellison, Theda Harshey and husband Gene, Vi Arnold, Mary Ellen Charles and husband Keith; grandchildren, Jana Gallegos and husband Michael, Kelly Rabel and husband Brian, Mathew Harshey, Justin Harshey and wife Leloba, Matthew Charles, Cassie Charles, Tina Black, Christopher Ellison and Kyle Ellison; great-grandchildren, Bailee Rabel and Casey Rabel. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until service time on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Meadowlawn Tribute Center. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 PM on Saturday, March 31, 2007 at Meadowlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Nanny will be remembered by all for her beautiful plants and flowers. Donations can be made in her honor to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens.

I love my nanny so much. Every time I saw her she would say,” That dang Dog.” I miss her so much. I love her.
