Helena Lou Byrd

Helena L. Byrd was born on November 1, 1943 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois to Ruth E. and John B. Portwood. She departed this life on August 2014 in San Antonio, Texas.
She graduated from Farragut High School in Chicago. Later she moved to San Antonio where she continued her education in nursing and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She held various other positions prior to and after her nursing career. Helena enjoyed visiting with family and friends and all will miss her laughter and infectious smile.
Helena is survived by two brothers, Robert B. (Margaret) Portwood of Atlanta, Georgia and John O. (Aprill) Portwood of San Antonio; two nephews Larry (Autumn) Portwood of San Antonio and Kevin B. Portwood of Atlanta; one niece Whitni Portwood of San Antonio; and six grand and two great-grand nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
